The secret to perfectly baked cookies
For the perfect cookie, bake one cookie sheet at a time in the center of your oven. We know you are busy and it can be tempting to try to fit as much as you can into the oven at once, but that can cause uneven baking with mixed results (hello flat cookies)! A better way to finish baking more quickly (without multiple batches) is to use a bigger cookie sheet! You’ll thank us later!

The secret to better tasting cookies
The Molasses Spice Cookies and Chocolate Crinkles in our kits are best when the dough is refrigerated before baking. Why? Chilling helps to solidify the fat in the cookies which makes the dough easier to work with (I’m looking at you, Crinkles!) and helps control spreading (cookies that aren’t chilled are flatter). You may also notice more pronounced flavor and a darker color in molasses cookies when the dough is chilled. So take your time with these cookies – make the dough in the afternoon and bake them after dinner! Or, if you are doing all four varieties in one sitting, make these doughs first and bake them when the others are done.

The secret to easy clean-up
PARCHMENT PAPER! How do I love thee? Let me count the ways!
At Baking It Real, we always use parchment paper when we bake. It actually pains us not to.
Parchment paper and our easy to use kits go hand in hand to make your baking experience neater and more fun! Use it to line your cookie sheets or under your cooling rack (especially for those delicious, powdered sugar covered Crinkles) and you can just toss it (or wipe with a dry cloth and reuse) when you are done!

The secret to perfectly sized cookies
This is a major game changer! Introducing the 1 tablespoon (#70) cookie scoop.
He's our best buddy in the baking game and the trick to Instagram-worthy cookies. Scooped cookies not only look great because they are all the same size, but they also are often better tasting because all of the cookies on the tray finish baking at the same time. And honestly, the spring-loaded action of a cookie scoop is so satisfying (and quick!). Try one out next time and let us know what you think!
